Founded in 1990 by James Daunt, Daunt Books began as an independent chain of bookshops in England that originally specialized in travel literature. The company expanded its operations to include publishing in 2010. James Daunt, the founder, has also served as the managing director for both Waterstones and the American bookstore chain Barnes & Noble.
