This book presents an overview of the work of Le Corbusier, considered by any to be the most important architect of the twentieth century. Incorporating e most recent scholarly research, it illuminates aspects of his work that are articularly relevant to today's discourse. Seven richly illustrated essays discuss everal leitmotifs in the work of Le Corbusier: his relationship to the Orient and he Mediterranean, his interest in modern media and new technologies, his self-taged persona, and the concept of a synthèse des arts, which manifested itself n the typically Corbusian interplay of architecture, urban planning, painting, design, cinematography and other disciplines.
