Mairtin O Cadhain

Máirtín Ó Cadhain (1906–1970) was a prominent Irish-language writer and a key figure in reintroducing literary modernism to the language. Best known for his 1949 novel Cré na Cille, he was also a political activist, an Irish republican, and a Marxist. Throughout his life, he worked as a prose writer, translator, poet, and university teacher, and was interned at the Curragh Camp during the Emergency.
