Julian Schnabel
Julian Schnabel is an American painter and filmmaker born in 1951. He gained international recognition in the 1980s for his large-scale plate paintings featuring broken ceramics. Since the 1990s, he has directed independent films including Before Night Falls and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the latter of which earned him a Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Director and a Golden Globe.
