Joshua Reynolds

Sir Joshua Reynolds was an 18th-century English painter who specialized in portraiture and promoted the Grand Style, which emphasized the idealization of the imperfect. A founder and the first president of the Royal Academy of Arts, he was knighted by George III in 1769. He is recognized for revolutionizing British art and remains one of the most significant figures in the history of European painting.
