Joseph Cornell

Joseph Cornell was an American visual artist and filmmaker recognized as a pioneer of assemblage. Largely self-taught, he developed a distinct style by incorporating discarded artifacts into his work. Influenced by Surrealism, he also produced avant-garde experimental films while maintaining contact with contemporary artists throughout his career.
