Jean-Jacques Sempe

Jean-Jacques Sempé (1932–2022) was a French cartoonist and illustrator celebrated for his detailed depictions of cityscapes and countrysides. He is widely recognized for his long-standing contributions to The New Yorker and his collaboration with René Goscinny on the Le Petit Nicolas children's book series. His work is characterized by expansive, high-angle perspectives and a distinct, observational style.
