Gene Lees

Frederick Eugene John Lees was a Canadian music critic, biographer, journalist, and lyricist. After beginning his career as a newspaper journalist in Canada, he relocated to the United States to focus on music criticism and songwriting. He is noted for writing the English lyrics to Antonio Carlos Jobim's song Corcovado, which has been recorded by numerous prominent artists including Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, and Diana Krall.
